I'm finally back!

Here are a couple more pictures from our trip.

My 3 guys. :) My littlest guy wore those sunglasses the whole trip.

Sunrise at the ocean. God's a wonderful Artist!

After a wonderful time of rest and a renewing time with the family, we are home and preparing to get back into the weekly routine. This means I will be back to posting on a daily basis and writing on some of the promised topics of "couponing."

We did have a great time away. The Lord blessed us with safe and peaceful travel. With a 2 and 4 year old and a 9 hour trip this is a wonderful thing. My 4 year old didn't want to come back though he said everyday, "I want to stay here for 2 weeks at this hotel home. " He's definitely a little traveller. My 2 year old would ask if we were on acation. Too precious!

With much planning and some preparation we were also able to have a very frugal trip. I will try to blog this week about the expenses of our trip and how we cut down on our vacation cost.

Worth missing a deal!

God's beautiful ocean!

This is the restaurant we ate at tonight which was so not a good deal. Yet was very yummy!
Well I did not get the CVS Neutrogena deal today. They had no 1 oz sun screen. :( But I will try again tomorrow if we pass another CVS.

Neutrogena Money Maker at CVS

Okay I know I'm on vacation but I am headed to CVS today for this deal. When you buy 2 Neutrogena sun care product or sunless tanner you get $10 in Extra Care Buck. So buy 2-1 oz Ultra Sheer SPF 55 sunscreen at $1.99 a piece and get $10 in ECB. You make $6.02 on transaction.(Limit 1 deal per household) What a deal!

I'll let you know if I score this deal later. :)

On vacation!!

My posting will probably be a little hit or miss this week. The fam and I are on our first vacation in about five years!!! I'll be spending as much time as I can with them and enjoying all the beautiful sights too. But of course if there is great deal I'll try to post it but it may be a little late. :)

But check back later for a pic or two.

Where to get coupons?

If you are new to the "couponing" scene you may be wondering where we get all these coupons we refer to. The first and most obvious place is the local Sunday paper. Most weeks the local paper puts anywhere from 1-3 coupon inserts within the local sales advertisements. The usual inserts are called Red Plum, Smart source and Proctor and Gamble Brand Saver. On a regular basis, on this blog and other money saving blogs we refer to these inserts as RP, SS and P&G.

When buying a Sunday paper for coupons keep some things in mind. Where I live we have two larger cities within a half-hour to an hour away. The city that is larger yet further from us has better coupons than the city that is smaller yet closer to us. So if you have access to more than one town's paper compare and see which one is a better value coupon-wise.

Some people also ask me if buying the Sunday paper for the coupons is worth it. I say YES and in some cases it's worth buying two. When considering that I ask myself, can I make back the money I spent on the paper with the coupons within the paper? For example, I paid .99 for the Sunday paper and in this weeks coupons inserts I know 100% that I will use $8.10 in coupons from this paper. So I will make $7.11 from this week's paper. Now granted that will not be the case every week. I usually make back at least what I paid for the paper and than some.

As you start collecting these coupons every week remember, one of the first rules of "couponing" is keep all coupons until they expire. Even if you don't use that particular product someone else you know may or a store may run a sale on that item and you may be able to try it for free with the coupon. You just never know so hang on to them. You may also want to consider a coupon organizer going forward.

I hope this is helpful to some of you that may be considering starting to coupon. Check back soon for information on Internet coupons.

More Mom's Day Freebies

Gattitown in our area is offering a free adult buffet for Mom with the purchase of a child's buffet on Mother's Day. So if you have one in your area call to see if they are participating.

If you are in the Dayton/Cincinnati area, it's been reported Cold Stone Creamery if offering a free single ice cream creation for mom. Call ahead to verify.

COMING SOON..."COUPONING 101"

Over the next week or so I will try to post the 101's of couponing. I will also try to breakdown the basics of using coupons, finding coupons and utilizing coupons. I will write on shopping with coupons at CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, Meijer and Target and will tell you how to make the loyalty systems of these stores work for you! So those of you that are new to couponing will have the tools you need to start saving money.

So make sure you check back in with me next week!

New Coupons

Here is a .40/1 Softsoap coupon. Meijer and Kroger run these on sale for $1 quite often. Both stores also double coupons .50 and below which would make the Softsoap .20. I don't know about you but with little ones we run out of hand soap quickly around here.

Also check out Coupons.com for some new coupons. There are several $1/1 Excedrin coupons. Sometimes Meijer runs Excedrin on sale for .99 which would make them free after coupon. The Kellogg's cereal coupons have been reset. Many stores the last week or so have run really good sales on the Kellogg's cereals.

Mother's Day Freebies

The Freebie Blogger has a very nice list of freebies for Mother's Day. Here are a few of my favorites:

TCBY is giving mom a free cone or cup of yogurt on Mother's Day.

TGI Friday's on Mother's Day is giving a mom-sized Brownie Obsession or Spiced Up Cupcake with a purchase of an entree.

On Mother's Day Smokey Bones is offering mom a free entree with the purchase of another entree of equal or lesser value. (up to $20)

Go here to print off a B1G1 free coupon to Champps Americana valid May 9th and 10th.

Because some restaurants are individually owned and may not participate, make sure you call ahead to confirm the promotion.

Hope this makes your Mother's Day a little happier!

Shoe Buy.com

Shoe Buy.com is offering 20% off a purchase until Mother's Day. If you are not familiar with this website you can buy name brand shoes usually at a discounted price with no sales tax or shipping fee.

At first I was a little skeptical of ordering shoes online. What if they don't fit or look good. I'll have to pay to ship them back. But after doing a little research I came across Shoe Buy.com. They don't charge shipping either way even if you need to exchange your shoes or return them.

Since my little guy has really chubby feet and wears extra wide, I ordered him a pair of Stride Rite tennis shoes from here. After the online discount I actually ended up paying less for them then when I bought them at the mall. So for me it was a win win situation. I paid no sales tax, no shipping and no gas to drive to the mall. Plus I love the shoes too!

COKE COUPON!

They are gone....I knew they would go fast! :(

Hurry and print out this Coke coupon...it won't last long. These can be printed an unlimited number of times for now. So click right over and print yours. Paired with the CVS deal this week it makes for some inexpensive Coke.

Buy 5-12 packs at $4 a piece
Used 5-1/1 pack of Coke coupon
