Welcome to Clipping Makes Cents. After much thought, couponing for several months and saving tons of money, I finally decided to start sharing what I've learned about trying to live more frugal.
It's been a long journey to get here. My husband and I started out with two incomes when we got married. We both worked for almost five years before my first son was born. We decided that I was going to stay home because of my health issues. We also felt it was the right thing for our family.
There began the financial spiral downward. We found out going from two incomes to one was a BIG change. Yet at that time our spending did not slow down. This went on for probably well over a year. I guess looking back now it feels like we woke up one day and wondered what happened to us financially. We were just NOT able to make ends meet. We were in the red every month and this was when our second baby blessing came along. We realized some major changes needed to be made.
Long story short we nearly lost everything, financially speaking. We really didn't know what we were going to do. We prayed and prayed and asked the Lord to help us make the right decisions financially. So we sold our home, went from two vehicles to one and turned off cable and internet, but we still couldn't make it. The Lord did bless my hubby with some weekend on call work with his company, which increased our income some.
After moving to a house with a smaller payment and still sharing one car things seemed to be a little better. Yet we still were not in the black every month. A good friend of mine told me about coming across a blog http://www.moneysavingmom.com/. She was learning CVSing and how to get items like tissue paper, paper towels, medicine, and etc. for free. I really couldn't believe it. How could this be? We were going to the grocery store and spending anywhere from $30 to $50 a month on these items.
After some trial and error on my part, I discovered it was true! Thus began my very long journey here. I started learning how to live on very little. Clipping coupons, printing internet coupons, signing-up for freebies and just saving tons of money has completely changed me and my family's whole outlook on spending. We live totally different now. Instead of saying, "well this just cost's a dollar," we say, "do you know what I could do with a dollar?"
I know the Lord has blessed me and has used this to teach and change me. Now I'm hoping to be able to share this with others and help them learn how to save. I also hope this blog will show others it's never to late to start saving and to start clipping your way to cents.
